41 Entries for Nürburgring 1000 Title Showdown

Forty-one cars are set to take part in the iRacing.com Nürburgring 1000, as teams and drivers in battle it out for the titles in all three classes in the Blancpain Endurance Series season finale.

The Pro Cup sees little change, with Triple Eight Racing joining the series for the second time this year. The British team has entered their BMW Z4 in the top class, this time with a new lineup consisting of Warren Hughes, Jody Firth and factory ace Alexander Sims.

After losing his seat to Nicolas Lapierre for the races at Paul Ricard and Spa, Alexandre Premat rejoins Alvaro Parente and Gregoire Demoustier in the No. 98 ART Grand Prix McLaren, as Lapierre will be on FIA WEC duty for Toyota in Austin.

The Chinese Brothers Racing Team Audi also makes it return after missing the Spa 24.

HTP Motorsport has reshuffled its lineup again, with Maximilian Buhk moving to the No. 85 Mercedes of Stef Dusseldorp and Sergei Afanasiev and Bernd Schneider joining Harold Primat and Nico Verdonck on the No. 84.  The German team made the decision to help Buhk in his fight to win the Blancpain GT title.

Belgian Audi Club Team WRT’s Laurens Vanthoor heads to the Eifel mountains as the Pro Cup points leader, the Belgian being the only driver in the No. 1 WRT Audi to still have a shot at the title due to the team’s altered lineups at Spa.

With 33 points on offer, Vanthoor holds a seven-point advantage over Saintéloc drivers Stéphane Ortelli, Edward Sandström and Gregory Guilvert and 15 points over Bentley Boys Guy Smith, Andy Meyrick and Steven Kane.

Parente/Demoustier (ART GP McLaren), Verdonck/Primat (HTP Mercedes) and Stippler/Mies/Nash (WRT Audi) all need to win to have a chance of the title.

The Belgian Audi Club Team WRT also leads the teams’ standings in the Pro Cup, with both M-Sport Bentley and Saintéloc Racing facing an 11-point deficit, with Saintéloc only having one car in the fight.

The Pro-Am Cup once again makes up the bulk of the field with the most notable addition being the No. 1000 Audi Race Experience Audi R8 LMS ultra with an all-Swiss lineup of DTM-racer Nico Müller, Rahel Frey and alpine ski racer Didier Cuche.

After making its debut at Spa with a McLaren, GT Russian Team switches to a Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 for the six-hour enduro, with Alexei Vasiliev the only confirmed driver so far.

The No. 4 WRT Audi remains in the Pro-Am Cup and sees the arrival of GP2-racer Stephane Richelmi, the 24-year-old Monégasque single-seater ace making his GT-debut this weekend.

Andrea Rizzoli (No. 90 Scuderia Villorba Corse Ferrari) is in pole position for the Pro-Am Cup the Drivers’ title, holding a 12-point lead on Andrew Smith, Alasdair McCaig and Oliver Bryant in the No. 79 Ecurie Ecosse BMW.

Due to his improved driver rating from Bronze to Silver, Rizzoli will compete with new teammates at the Nürburgring.

On-track action starts on Friday afternoon with a one-hour session for Bronze rated drivers. Tthe start of the iRacing.com Nürburgring 1000 will be given at 11:45 a.m. local time on Sunday.
