Audi Sport customer racing Asia will team up with Phoenix Racing to compete in the Blancpain Endurance Series this year.

The German squad will enter an Audi R8 LMS ultra in the series with an Asian-European lineup.

Reigning Spa and Nürburgring 24 champion Markus Winkelhock will guide two drivers from Hong Kong, Marchy Lee and Shaun Thong, who will both take their first steps onto the European GT scene.

Lee won the inaugural Audi R8 LMS Cup in 2012, while 18 year-old Thong already spent the 2014 season racing in Europe in the F3-based Euroformula Open.

“The entry in the Blancpain Endurance Series is another step in the integration between the Audi Sport platforms in Asia and Europe,” said Rene Koneberg, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia.

“The partnership will further elevate our development program for young Asian talents like Shaun Thong.”

The Audi R8 LMS Cup logo will be featured on the side livery of the team’s car.
