Maximilian Buhk took pole for the Blancpain Sprint Series Qualifying Race at Zandvoort later today, keeping championship leader Robin Frijns 0.116s behind him.

Buhk’s Bentley Team HTP Continental GT3 spent the entire Q3 top-eight shoot-out at the top of the timing screens, while Frijns tried to catch him.

“It was important to have a good qualifying because it’s tough to overtake here,” said Buhk.

The additional point awarded for taking pole means the gap between Buhk/Abril and Frijns in the No. 1 WRT Audi is now down to just seven points.

“If we finish second and the Bentley wins (the Qualifying Race), I’ll be happy with that. Tomorrow is what counts,” said Frijns.

Nicki Thiim posted the third quickest time in the No. 2 WRT Audi and will lineup next to the Rinaldi Racing Ferrari of Jeroen Bleekemolen and Norbert Siedler.

Siedler went fastest in Q2 but wasn’t able to improve his time in the Q3 shoot-out.

Markus Winkelhock qualified the Phoenix Racing Audi in fifth and will share the third row on the grid with the Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo R-EX of Nick Catsburg and Albert von Thurn und Taxis.

The top-seven posted a time within a second of the polesitter, with the five fastest cars even remaining within 0.336s of Buhk.

Q2 was red flagged following an off by Max Van Splunteren in the Silver Cup entered Bentley Team HTP Continental GT3, while the No. 74 ISR Audi experienced gearbox issues in Q2.
