Catsburg Puts Reiter Lamborghini on Moscow Pole

Nick Catsburg put an end to WRT’s streak in the Blancpain Sprint Series, by claiming pole in the Reiter Engineering Lamborghini for today’s Qualifying Race in Moscow.

The Dutchman, who put in a surprising performance in his first-ever WTCC race at the Moscow Raceway a couple of weeks ago, went fastest in Q2 and improved marginally in the Q3 shootout.

Catsburg was 0.140s quicker than the Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra of Markus Winkelhock, who was beat the Belgian WRT armada.

The Rinaldi Racing Racing Ferrari continued to show its pace and claimed P3 on the grid with Marco Seefried behind the wheel.

The sole Attempto Racing McLaren 650S GT3 went fourth quickest (+0.532s), but it wasn’t smooth sailing for the German team.

Rob Bell went second quickest in Q1, securing a slot in the shoot-out, while Kevin Estre made two mistakes in the following session.

The Frenchman went off into the grass in Q2 and didn’t make the top ten, but then went out to claim P4 in Q3 before losing the back-end of his car and putting in the barriers.

Belgian Audi Club Team WRT experienced a difficult session, with championship leaders Laurens Vanthoor and Robin Frijns heading the Belgian Audis in P5 (+0.577s), followed by the No. 2 car in the hands off Christopher Mies.

Both HTP Bentleys made it into the top-ten, with the Silver Cup-entered No. 83 car of Jules Szymkowiak edging out the sister No. 84 car of Maxi Buhk.

Marco Asmer took pole in the Pro-Am Cup with the No. 71 GT Russian Mercedes, posting the thirteenth time overall.
