Maxi Götz posted the fastest time in the first qualifying session for the Total 24 Hours of Spa, putting the No. 86 HTP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 on top as teams are qualifying for the top-20 Super Pole tomorrow evening.

Most of the cars went out early in the 75-minute session, putting in their first real attempt at a fast time.

Mercedes continued to show good form, taking up four places in the top-five, with Laurens Vanthoor reeling off the third quickest time in the No. 28 Audi Sport Team WRT Audi R8 LMS.

Dani Juncadella’s No. 56 Black Falcon Mercedes was the fastest Pro-Am Cup entered car in second overall, 0.071s off the HTP’s time.

The No. 88 AMG – AKKA ASP and No. 00 Black Falcon cars completed the top five, while Christopher Haase led a trio of Audis in sixth.

Andy Meyrick’s No. 24 Team Parker Racing Bentley Continental GT3 ended up in ninth and beat the first of the M-Sport factory cars, the No. 8 of Andy Soucek, in 11th.

The ROWE Racing BMW M6 GT3s were P10 and P13, while the championship-leading No. 58 Garage 59 McLaren 650S GT3 qualified in 19th.

The top-20 were separated within one second.

A stranded No. 19 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini brought out a short Full Course Yellow and the No. 29 Konrad Motorsport Lamborghini blocked the entrance to the pitlane for a couple of minutes.

Following its engine failure in free practice, the No. 57 Black Falcon was still in its box completing the engine change.

The session was ended three minutes early for debris on track at the exit of Les Combes.

The second night qualifying will start at 9:45 p.m. local time.
