ROAL Motorsport will represent BMW in the Blancpain GT Series next year, with the Italian squad confirming Friday a program with the new BMW M6 GT3.

The Roberto Ravaglia-led squad are no strangers to GT3 competition, having fielded a BMW Z4 GT3 in the Blancpain Sprint Series for Alex Zanardi in 2014, and most recently, this year’s 24 Hours of Spa.

Drivers for its yet-to-be-determined Blancpain GT effort have yet to be announced.

“We are planning to continue in the 2016 series with the new M6, but at the moment we do not know if that will be in Endurance or Sprint, or both series,” Ravaglia said.

The news comes in the wake of Marc VDS Racing Team’s sudden departure from four-wheeled racing activities, with the Belgian squad having been tipped for a Blancpain GT program with the M6 GT3.

ROAL is the first European-based team to make a commitment to the new M6 GT3, joining U.S. squad Turner Motorsport, which has ordered two cars for IMSA and Pirelli World Challenge competition.
