Reigning GT4 teams’ champion Academy Motorsport will return to the British GT Championship next month at Silverstone, having missed the first few rounds of the season.

Dennis Strandberg will pilot the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 in the Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps race, and the team is currently searching for a second driver.

Both the Silverstone and Spa rounds will have an expanded GT4 entry, as the GT4 European Series joins the grid for combined races.

“Although the team has opted not to place a full-time entry into the championship this season, we just couldn’t turn down this opportunity,” said team boss Matt Nicoll-Jones.

“With there looking to be up to 55 cars on track during both races with the inclusion of the European Series machines, we just had to enter to show what the team and the Vantage can do in the right hands.

“But mainly, we just want to go and have fun!”
