SRO Motorsports Group announced Thursday a date change for the Sepang 12 Hours, which sees the Malaysian enduro, which is under under new management for 2015, being moved back one week to Dec. 11-13.

The move comes to facilitate logistical aspects of the race, which will provide teams from different series in Australia and Europe to compete, according to the new event co-promoter.

“Since the announcement last month that SRO will be partnering with SIC to co-promote and co-organize the 2015 edition of the Sepang 12 Hours, interest from teams and drivers across the globe has been strong”, said project manager Benjamin Franassovici.

“Commitment to take part in this end-of-season challenge has not only come from teams and drivers in Asia but from Australia and Europe too.

“Taking this into account, it has been decided with SIC to push the date a week later, to December 13th, to facilitate the transportation of cars taking part in different series in Australasia and Europe.”

The revised date currently falls on the same weekend as the Gulf 12 Hours at Abu Dhabi, which has held its race on the second week of December for the last three years.

It also falls one week prior to the season finale of the Asian Le Mans Series, also at Sepang.

Further details on the Sepang 12 Hours race is expected to be released in the coming weeks.

“We are very excited to say that the interest from GT (GT3/GTC/GT4) and touring car teams has been above all expectations and we look forward to making the 2015 edition of the Sepang 12 Hours a great event, a true Asian equivalent of the Total 24 Hours of Spa,” Franassovici added.

“We are finalizing the draft regulations this week, together with the entry forms for interested participants.”
