Michael Mills will return to the Pirelli World Challenge after a one-year hiatus, with a new family team effort and an older BMW Z4 GT3 chassis.

Mills, the 2014 GTA class champion with EFFORT Racing, and father Mickey Mills will run selected World Challenge races, starting with the season opener at Circuit of The Americas on March 3-6.

Mickey Mills will co-drive at the three SprintX weekends at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Utah Motorsports Complex and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

“The car is different than the previous car I won with in PWC, and we’ve been working on getting a handle on what makes this car fast,” Michael Mills said.

“Our roots are with BMW, and it’s nice to back to them as a family. We can build off each other each time we go out.”

The livery for the No. 46 Mills Racing BMW is based off of a pro-stock drag race car Mickey had back in the 1970s. The logo is an homage to the logo he used during that time as well.

Kyle Kavanagh, who brings over 10 years of experience from ALMS and IMSA, will be the team’s crew chief.

Testing has already commenced at MSR Houston and will continue through the World Challenge season opener.
