Burkett Edges Out Maxwell for CTSC Pole at Lime Rock

CJ Wilson Racing’s Danny Burkett will start Saturday’s Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race at Lime Rock from the pole, following a hard-fought qualifying session for top honors in the GS class.

Burkett’s 57.458-second lap in the No. 33 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport edged out the No. 15 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Shelby GT350R-C of Scott Maxwell by just 0.016 seconds.

It marked Burkett’s second Continental Tire Challenge pole of the season in the car he’ll share with Marc Miller tomorrow.

The No. 76 C360R Ford of Paul Holton will line up third overall and in class, ahead of the sister No. 35 CJ Wilson Porsche and No. 99 Automatic Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4, which completed the top-five.

Chad McCumbee claimed back-to-back Lime Rock poles in ST, leading a Mazda 1-2-3 sweep in class.

The Freedom Autosport driver reeled off a 59.306 lap time to edge out the No. 34 Alara Motorsports Mazda of Terry Borcheller by 0.129 seconds.

Jameson Riley was third quickest in his No. 66 Riley Racing Mazda, which makes its series return this weekend.

McCumbee, who scored his fourth career Continental Tire Challenge pole, will share driving duties with Stevan McAleer in Saturday’s two-hour and 30-minute race.

The No. 93 HART Honda Civic Si of Chad Gilsinger was best of the rest in fourth, with James Clay completing the top-five in the No. 84 BimmerWorld BMW 328i.
