Following a respectful split from Kris Wright Racing, Goldcrest Motorsports will finish out the IMSA Continental Tire Challenge season with the No. 36 Strategic Wealth Racing Cayman as its lone entry.

The early championship departure comes as a result of Kris Wright’s decision to take his racing career in an alternate direction. This includes a test date that conflicts with the season finale at Road Atlanta.

“It was such a pleasure to work with Andy [Lee] and Kris [Wright] this season,”said Goldcrest partner, Bob Sanderson. “Of course we had our fair share of challenges, but we also hit a lot of milestones throughout the year. We wish nothing but success to both of them in their future endeavors.”

Some of Kris Wright Racing’s high points include Goldcrest Motorsport’s first ST class pole at Road America and a season’s best sixth place finish at Sebring. Prior to the final round, Wright and Lee sit thirteenth in the ST Driver points.

Unaffected by the decision, the No. 36 Strategic Wealth entry of Matt Dicken and Corey Lewis will finish out their second season as planned. Having logged many test hours at Road Atlanta, the duo looks to best last year’s top-ten finish and go for their second podium of 2016.

With one door closing, the team is already evaluating options for their next move. Bob Sanderson, who oversaw the Kris Wright Racing effort, has shifted his focus entirely to the 2017 season.

“Given the relationship and history that we have with Porsche, we have every intention to stick with the brand. Apart from that, nothing is off the table for 2017”, said Sanderson. “It’s just a matter of pulling together all of our options and deciding what’s best from a business and results standpoint.”
