IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge ST class competitor Goldcrest Motorsports, based out of Kennesaw, GA, is finalizing a significant expansion for next season.

The team, which ran the No. 22 and No. 36 Porsche Caymans during the 2016 season, is completing construction on a second, larger race shop just down the road from the team’s current facility.

“After just six years in business, this is a huge move for Goldcrest,” said Goldcrest Motorsports partner Bob Sanderson.

“The goal behind a second shop is to provide our street, club, and professional racing customers with double the space and personnel to cater to their needs. This will allow us additional room to work with what we already have and welcome in new projects.”

The second facility, which will become the team’s new headquarters, has been in planning and development for nearly two years.

Sanderson and his partner at Goldcrest, Steve Cosgrove, are looking forward to what the new shop could provide for their 2017 racing efforts.

“Now that the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season is over, we’re back on site and really pushing to have the new shop up and running before the new year,” Sanderson added.

“While our 2017 plans are still unclear, we expect the new location to play a crucial role in providing us with the prep space we need for our IMSA programs.

“This has been a long work in progress, but we’re all very excited to see pieces coming together.”
