TRG is set to make its return to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for the first time since Long Beach, with James Davison and Brandon Davis entered in its Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 for next weekend’s Northeast Grand Prix.

The GT-only race will mark the first start of the WeatherTech Championship season for the team’s Aston Martin, after competing in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and Long Beach rounds with a Porsche 911 GT3 R, which has since been sold.

According to team principal Kevin Buckler, the GT Daytona class entry is currently earmarked as a one-off race, as the California-based squad evaluates its options for next year.

“We have a super high-end group with some potential sponsors that are sniffing for next year, so we’ve got a great agenda,” Buckler told Sportscar365.

The team will also make its return to the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, with an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 entered for Craig Lyons and Kris Wilson.

Other changes in the entry list for the eighth round of the season include BMW Junior driver Jesse Krohn rejoining Turner Motorsport in the No. 96 BMW M6 GT3 alongside Jens Klingmann, as well as the absence of Alegra Motorsports’ Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The Daytona class-winning Porsche has contested the entire season to date, after initially announcing a Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup-only campaign.

No reason has been given for Alegra’s absence, which results in only two Porsches being on the grid in GTD.
