Damien Faulkner’s quick lap in the No. 33 Mercedes-AMG GT4 in Practice 1 on Friday was the fastest of the day through two IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge practice sessions at Mid-Ohio.

The Winward Racing driver held off a pair of Ford Mustang GT4 machines to claim the top spot, edging second-place Nate Stacy of KohR Motorsports by 0.096 seconds. Trent Hindman was third fastest for VOLT Racing.

Compass Racing’s Kuno Wittmer, driving the No. 75 Audi RS3 LMS TCR, had the fastest lap of the day in the TCR category. Stephen Simpson was second in JDC-Miller Motorsports’ return to action in the series, with Britt Casey Jr. third in the sister Compass Racing entry.

MINI swept the top two spots in ST with Mat and Mark Pombo first and second, respectively.

All of the fastest laps were set in Practice 1 which was run in dry conditions, while Practice 2 was held on a wet racing surface.

Spencer Pumpelly was quickest overall in the wet in an RS1-entered Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR, while Faulkner continued his impressive weekend with the second-quickest time.

Wittmer was again the quickest in the challenging conditions of Practice 2 in the TCR class, while the No. 81 BimmerWorld Racing BMW 328i of Nick Galante and Devin Jones was the only ST class competitor to take to the track in the second session.

A brief 15 minute practice session for Continental Tire Challenge is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. ET Saturday, followed immedietly by qualifications. The two-hour Mid-Ohio 120 will begin at 2:20 p.m. ET with live coverage available at IMSA.tv.
