Action Express Sets Pace Thursday at Sebring Winter Test

At the end of the first day of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship IMSA Winter Test at Sebring, it was Action Express Racing that topped the time charts with the No. 5 Corvette DP.

Alex Brundle was the fastest driver for most of the second session, but just minutes before the end, the No. 5 Corvette DP of Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi and Sebastien Bourdais set the fastest time, a 1:52.906.

TheNo. 5 improved once again, just minutes before the end of the session, putting in a 1:52.480 as the fastest lap time of the day.

Behind the Action Express Racing Corvette DP it was the OAK Racing Morgan Nissan that took second place, 0.787s slower than the No. 5. The No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP of Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante ended the second session in third place in a time of 1:53.425.

Completing the top eight were the Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Ford, Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP, the two Extreme Speed Motorsports HPD ARX-03b’s and the Muscle Milk Pickett Racing Oreca 03 Nissan.

The No. 911 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR of Nick Tandy, Richard Lietz and Patrick Pilet led the GTLM standings in session two. The Rolex 24 at Daytona winning squad beat the sister car this time around, but was still three tenths slower than the fastest time in the morning, a 2:00.364 the fastest time in the afternoon.

Splitting the two Porsches was the No. 93 SRT Motorsports SRT Viper GTS-R of Marc Goossens, Jonathan Bomarito and Jeroen Bleekemolen.

The No. 25 8Star Motorsports Oreca FLM09 was fastest in the PC category again, returning after an accident in the morning session, while Turner Motorsport topped the timecharts in GTD with the No. 94 BMW Z4 GT3.

Temperatures reached into the 80s during the session, which was red flagged three times. The No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari, No. 13 Rum Bum Racing/Snow Racing Porsche and No. 88 BAR1 Motorsports Oreca FLM09 returned with accident damage.
