Tom Blomqvist will make his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut in next weekend’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen with BMW Team RLL.

The Brit, who drove the BMW M8 GTE in the FIA World Endurance Championship-opening Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in May, will drive the No. 24 car at Watkins Glen.

He will co-drive with John Edwards and Jesse Krohn who have been joined by Nicky Catsburg and Augusto Farfus at the endurance races so far this season.

Blomqvist, who was released from his Formula E duties with Andretti last month, is also set to replace Farfus at the WEC Six Hours of Fuji, with the Brazilian driver focusing on the clashing Petit Le Mans.

“I am really excited about my first race in the USA,” said Blomqvist. “I did well in the BMW M8 GTE at Spa-Francorchamps.

“That makes me optimistic that I can get up to speed quickly at Watkins Glen too. The circuit is amazing.”

The No. 25 BMW will be driven by full-season pilots Alexander Sims and Connor De Phillippi while Bill Auberlen will return to the factory GTLM squad as the third driver.

The BMW of North America brand ambassador drove with Sims and De Phillippi in both the Rolex 24 at Daytona and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring but contested the last two WeatherTech Championship races in Turner Motorsport’s BMW M6 GT3 in GT Daytona.
