Are you excited for the season ahead with Black Swan Racing in GTD?

“I’m really excited. I’ve had America and some of the big races high up on my list, so it’s great to actually be able to do them now. With Tim, he won the [GTC] championship with Jeroen [Bleekemolen] two times in ALMS, so I think I have a good teammate.

“The first test in Daytona was promising. He’s a nice guy and we get along well. He was fast. So I’m really looking forward to Daytona.”

What does the testing schedule look like for the team?

“I will be going to Portimao shortly [for a Porsche test]. Tim [Pappas] couldn’t come over because we have limited driving time. Our car is scheduled to arrive in America in the middle of December and we will do the Roar and get going.”

How do you think the competition will be in GTD?

“There’s quite a few Lamborghinis but it seems like it’s going to be great. There’s a lot of good drivers, a lot of good teams. I can’t wait to get started.”

Many of the tracks will be new to you. Do you enjoy racing in the U.S.?

“I obviously did a couple of races in PWC last year, so a couple of tracks I know but most of them I don’t know.

“To be honest, American tracks, I always love them because they’re still old school, except for COTA, which is very European. It’s a nice track as well but I really like those old school American tracks. It’s very cool.”

You were recently given a chance to test the factory Porsche 911 RSR in Bahrain. How did the test go and what was your impressions of the car?

“It’s a very nice car. It obviously won the championship and it’s a good car to drive. The whole day was very nice. Porsche set it up very nicely for us and treated us like we were part of the team.

“The test wasn’t really about [the future]. It was just to have fun with the car. You never know. We’ll see.”
