Conway Tops Night Practice in Cadillac Sweep

Mike Conway led another Cadillac 1-2-3 sweep, in night practice for Saturday’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The Toyota LMP1 factory driver on loan reeled off a quick lap of 1:49.815 in his No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R, edging out the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac of Ricky Taylor by 0.257 seconds.

Filipe Albuquerque was third in the No. 5 Action Express Cadillac, with Tristan Nunez the best of the rest in fourth, in the No. 55 Mazda RT24-P.

The No. 90 Visit Florida Racing Riley Mk. 30 Gibson completed the top-five overall and in the Prototype class, just over 1 second slower than Conway’s pace-setting time.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing topped the time charts in GT Le Mans, with Sebastien Bourdais reeling off a 1:57.116 in the No. 66 Ford GT, which seeks a rare endurance triple crown of class wins on Saturday.

The No. 912 Porsche GT Team Porsche 911 RSR and No. 68 Ford completed the top-three.

A flash pit lane fire, triggered by a fuel leak, temporarily halted the No. 3 Corvette C7.R, which later rejoined in the session after repairs were made to the rear of the GTLM contender.

Lawson Aschenbach, meanwhile, was quickest in GT Daytona, thanks to a 2:00.964 lap time set in his No. 57 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS.

Aschenbach edged out the No. 15 3GT Racing Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth by 0.118 seconds, with the No. 29 Land Motorsport Audi third.

The No. 26 BAR1 Motorsports Oreca FLM09 of Gustavo Yacaman was quickest in Prototype Challenge.

There was only one red flag, for the Stevenson Audi, which ran out of fuel at pit in, 11 minutes into the session.

Forty five of the 46 cars turned laps, with the No. 70 Mazda missing the 90-minute session due to a crack in the water pump, but will be ready tomorrow morning. 

The fourth and final practice session is set for 9:20 a.m. ET.
