JDC-Miller Motorsports and GAINSCO Auto Insurance announced today the return of the No. 99 ‘Red Dragon’ that will see GAINSCO serve as the primary sponsor of the team’s Oreca 07 Gibson in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next year.

The entry, as previously confirmed, will be driven by Mikhail Goikhberg and Stephen Simpson, with Chris Miller joining for the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup races.

It comes following Bob Stallings’ decision to discontinue his own race team, but lend the company’s support to another sports car racing operation.

“We had many opportunities to continue our quest for championships and JDC-Miller Motorsports was an easy pick,” said Stallings, the Executive Chairman of GAINSCO.

“John Church and John Miller have established themselves as a team to be reckoned with, even against the formidable competition in IMSA.”

The Minnesota-based team made an impressive debut in Prototype class this year, finishing fourth in the championship, and being the only LMP2 team to have completed every race.

“After getting to know them both and seeing the success they have had in a short period of time and especially after watching their performance in the Mosport race last season, I knew we had found the right match,” Stallings added.

“JDC-Miller has the resources, drivers, engineering experience and desire to win that I was looking for. [They] me a lot of the early days of GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing, and I am looking forward to rallying the support of our combined fan-base behind JDC-Miller Motorsports and The No. 99 Red Dragon.”

Church added: “It was immediately evident that the GAINSCO folks are as committed as we are. This is a tremendous opportunity for JDC-Miller Motorsports and we look forward to the season ahead.”

In addition to its extensive at track activation program, GAINSCO will again host a show car for independent agents that tour states in the company’s markets.

The team’s fourth driver for Daytona will be announced within the next week.

Stallings said that he offered the drive to longtime GAINSCO/BSR driver Jon Fogarty, who has declined due to increasing business commitments.

JDC-Miller expands into a two-car operation next year, with Simon Trummer the first confirmed driver in the No. 85 entry, which will carry the team’s signature ‘Banana Boat’ yellow color.
