Although official track activity has ceased for the year and many teams and drivers are still getting their plans sorted for 2015, there’s a number of news items emerging from drivers in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship paddock:

***Action Express Racing’s João Barbosa has won the Sports Merit – Personality of the Year award by the Sports Confederation of Portugal, which he will receive tomorrow. He was nominated for the award by the Portuguese Automobile Federation for claiming every championship possible this year in the TUDOR Championship, between the Prototype class overall driver’s championship and Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup driver’s title.

***Dion von Moltke will be the third in line of 10 presenters to speak at Florida International University’s TEDx event, TEDxFIU featuring “Fearless Journeys,” Thursday night to a sold-out crowd. TEDx conferences are independent from the main brand (Technology, Entertainment, Design), but operate on a local scale using the same model with a free license from TED. After the talk, he’ll also take over the TUDOR Championship Twitter account (@UnitedSportsCar) on Friday at 10:30 a.m. ET for an hour-long question & answer session. A live stream of Thursday night’s event will be available on tedxfiu.com starting at 5:30 p.m. ET.

***A number of TUDOR Championship and/or Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge drivers will be in action at Daytona this weekend for the Classic 24 Hours of Daytona, a Historic Sportscar Racing, Ltd. event (HSR). Randy Pobst, Patrick Long, Johannes van Overbeek, Shane Lewis, Eric Curran, Cooper MacNeil, Enzo Potolicchio, Sean Rayhall, Mike Skeen, Mirco Schultis and James Sofronas are among the drivers entered. A full entry list can be found here.
