IMSA has opened up the application process for entries in next year’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and is expecting to be oversubscribed having received considerable interest so far.

Entries for the full seasons and select events including the Rolex 24 at Daytona and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring will be accepted until 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 30.

The series is expecting to receive more entries than it can accommodate at Daytona and Sebring, which has self-imposed caps of 60 cars for each event.

“The interest we’ve received from teams all over the world wishing to compete in the 2018 WeatherTech Championship has been remarkable,” said IMSA President Scott Atherton.

“While we won’t know with certainly until the entry deadline passes, there is a very real possibility to be oversubscribed for 2018 and particularly for January’s Rolex 24 At Daytona and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring – collectively the 36 Hours of Florida.

“This level of interest shows us that our platform is clearly desirable and working.”

There remains to be two types of entries for 2018 with Premium Entries for teams committing to the full season and Standard Entries for partial-season or one-off entries.

The season will kick off with the Rolex 24 at Daytona on Jan. 27-28 although all entrants for the season-opener must take part in the Roar Before the Rolex 24 test on Jan. 5-7.

Potential entrants can access the new online portal at IMSAcompetitors.com.
