After nearly 18 months of hard work, dedication and a lot of hair care products, Jordan Taylor will chop off his signature mullet next month for charity.

The Wayne Taylor Racing driver revealed today plans to cut his locks during the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen weekend on June 27-29, with one lucky fan to be part of the festivities thanks to a raffle created by the second-generation driver.

“My mullet has gotten more attention than my driving has, which is amazing,” Taylor told Sportscar365. “I felt great about winning the [Rolex Series] championship last year but more people recognize me in the paddock as the guy with the mullet than anything else!

“Once it got to a certain point, it was so long, it would have been a waste to cut it off for no reason.”

Fans can purchase raffle tickets, with the winner receiving two weekend paddock access tickets to the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, a ride in the Continental Tire two-seater DP, behind-the-scenes tours of the Wayne Taylor Racing and Corvette Racing paddock setups, and most importantly, the chance to help cut off Taylor’s mullet.

The runner-up in the drawing will receive a set of Continental Tires. All proceeds will go to Camp Boggy Creek and Camp Anokijig, with the goal of raising $10,000, which would be split between the two charities. Tickets start at $25, while the winners will be drawn on June 20.

“It was great to get so much support from these people for basically getting my hair cut,” Taylor said. “I just hope everyone enjoyed it and gets behind this and remembers that it’s not about my hair, it’s about the charities.”

As for his future, Taylor is hoping to continue his winning ways, but without the added baggage and attention that his mullet brought.

“Since I’ve had the mullet, I’ve been successful in racing,” he said. “Once it really came into its own last year, it’s when we started winning races. We won the last few races in 2013 and this year we’ve had three podiums out of four races.

“I’ve had great success with the mullet but I think a lot of people are saying that I get a lot of credit for my hair than my driving, so I kind of just want to go back to being a racing driver again and not just the guy with the weird hair.”

They can take your mullet, but you’ll always have your Oakley Razors.

Well you obviously gave a “shit” enough to possibly read then comment. But yet, because he just happens to have a dad who was an excellent driver, it suddenly discredits Jordan’s ability in the car.

Since you asked, I give a shit. He’s a good guy doing something nice for charity in a time when there are way too many self-centered, inconsiderate asshats wasting space.

As for the dumb comment on Jordan’s driving ability, well, you’re clearly not paying attention to his driving. But how’s your racing career coming along? Maybe WTR and Corvette Racing will take a look at your resume.
