Andy Meyrick will be making his third consecutive start at the wheel of the DeltaWing DWC13 this year, having been confirmed for next month’s Bubba Burger SportsCar Grand Prix at Long Beach.

The former Bentley factory driver will fill in for Sean Rayhall, who will be taking part in the European Le Mans Series season-opener at Silverstone the same weekend. Meyrick will team with Katherine Legge.

The Don Panoz-owned team is coming off one of its strongest runs with the car in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, which saw Legge, Rayhall and Meyrick contend for a top-six overall finish until the car sustained steering failure in the final hour.

Legge, meanwhile, had put the Elan-powered prototype in the lead of the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona, prior to an accident that also took them out of the race.

The team is continuing on, with its thoughts placed with lead engineer Catherine Crawford, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor this week and had emergency surgery to remove it while in Italy.

“It goes without saying that we were all devastated by the news, as we are a very tight knit family, just as everyone is in the entire racing community,” team manager Tim Keene said.

“Catherine is such a strong and feisty woman, and I have all the confidence in the world that she’ll overcome this and come back to us all stronger than ever. We will continue on in the upcoming races, but her presence will always be with us as she makes her recovery.”
