Riley Motorsports has confirmed that it will continue in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next season in a new partnership with Robinson Racing.

The collaboration will enter a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the full eleven-race campaign, with Lawson Aschenbach and Gar Robinson the two nominated drivers.

Riley currently operates Ben Keating’s GTD class entry, but Keating’s move to the FIA World Endurance Championship for the upcoming 2019-20 season left a gap in the team’s IMSA program.

The deal to run the Robinson entry builds on a relationship dating back 29 years, when George Robinson came on board as Riley & Scott’s first customer of the chassis builder’s Trans-Am cars.

“I could not be more happy to be partnering with the Robinson’s, George was the very first customer of Riley & Scott and we have been able to provide him with six cars throughout the years,” said Riley Motorsports team principal Bill Riley.

“It’s an honor to work with Gar as he continues to grow his career in motorsports.”

Aschenbach and Robinson are sharing the Lone Star Racing Mercedes in select WeatherTech Championship rounds this year (pictured) ahead of their 2020 campaign.

Robinson, who is set for his first full season of IMSA competition, said he was “honored to continue the relationship” between the Riley organization and his family’s team.

“I would like to give a special thank you to the Robinson Racing crew for preparing me for this opportunity, I would not be ready for this without all of the sacrifices that they have made over the last 29 years,” said the Texan.

“Success is a big puzzle and everyone has been a really important piece of mine.”
