Nick Tandy led the way in opening practice for Saturday’s Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, continuing the streak of dominance by Porsche.

The Englishman reeled off a best lap of 50.065 seconds in the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR to go quickest in the session.

Tandy edged out the No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R of Marcel Fassler by 0.333 seconds, with Tom Blomqvist third in the No. 25 Team RLL BMW M8 GTE.

Jan Magnussen and Richard Westbrook completed the top-five in GT Le Mans for Corvette and Ford Chip Ganassi Racing, respectively.

Porsche is seeking its record-extending sixth class win in tomorrow’s two-hour and 40-minute IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round, which features GTLM and GT Daytona-only machinery.

Farnbacher Quickest for MSR, Acura in GTD

Mario Farnbacher posted the quickest time in GTD for Meyer Shank Racing and Acura.

The German’s 51.813 lap time in the class championship-leading No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 Evo was 0.073 seconds quicker than the No. 33 Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Jeroen Bleekemolen.

Bryan Sellers was third quickest in the freshly rebuilt No. 48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo.

There were no major incidents, or red flags, during the opening session, which saw split GTLM and GTD Bronze/Silver segments.
