Jordan Taylor led the way in opening practice for Sunday’s Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, with the team’s Cadillac DPi-V.R back on top of the time sheets in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition.

Taylor reeled off a 1:09.443 to narrowly edge out the No. 2 Tequila Patron ESM Nissan Onroak DPi of Ryan Dalziel by 0.007 seconds.

Jonathan Bomarito recorded the third quickest time in the Prototype class and overall, in the No. 55 Mazda RT24-P, with the pair of Action Express Racing Cadillac completing the top-five.

Porsche GT Team was 1-2 in GT Le Mans, led by the No. 912 Porsche 911 RSR of Laurens Vanthoor, while Andy Lally topped the time sheets in GT Daytona in the No. 93 Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3, which seeks its third consecutive class win.

The No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports Oreca FLM09 paced Prototype Challenge.

The 60-minute session was halted twice for incidents, the first for the No. 20 BAR1 Motorsports Oreca of Ryan Lewis, who stopped on track, prior to an accident by the No. 50 WeatherTech Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Gunnar Jeannette, after contact from the No. 26 BAR1 entry.

Jeannette’s Mercedes lost a rear wheel and sustained nose damage in the impact with the barriers.
