Turner Motorsport is targeting a full-season return to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, while finalizing its lineup for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The longtime BMW entrant, which appeared on the entry list for this weekend’s Roar Before the Rolex 24 with a single BMW M6 GT3 for Jens Klingmann, has utilized the three-day test to evaluate potential new drivers.

It’s included Prototype Challenge veterans Mark Kvamme and Don Yount, who turned laps in the carbon black BMW, sporting Evo updates, on Friday.

“They wanted to make sure they tried the car out,” team owner Will Turner told Sportscar365. “I think it’s the first GT car for Don and he seems to like it.”

Turner has reaffirmed his team’s commitment for the opening two races of the season and said he’s hoping to again put together a full-season campaign.

The team faced a similar situation last year, which saw a combination of drivers, including newly promoted BMW Team RLL driver Jesse Krohn, drafted into the lineup in the second half of the season.

Klingmann and Krohn combined for GT Daytona class victory at Road America in August, with the German driver finishing fourth in the championship.

“I’ll definitely be there [for Daytona],” Turner said. “It’s looking similar to last year but it’s looking good. We’ll figure something out.

“We have a new sponsor that we’re going to announce in the next two weeks, and that will definitely help our season.”

With RLL moving to the new-for-2018 BMW M8 GTE, Turner is the lone-remaining M6 entrant in North America.

BMW M4 GT4 Appearances Likely

Turner said they will likely contest multiple races with its new BMW M4 GT4, although a program has yet to be defined.

The team has been exploring options in both IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge and Pirelli World Challenge.

“We’ll get that out for some races,” Turner said. “I don’t know if it will be in IMSA or World Challenge but we’ll get it out.”

The recently delivered car made headlines on social media, having completed donuts in the parking lot of its Amesbury, Mass. shop.

It may not be Daytona but…Who knew rains worked so well. #snowday
