WeatherTech Racing will continue with its Porsche 911 GT3 R heading into next weekend’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway, in the wake of no Balance of Performance adjustments for the Mercedes-AMG GT3.

The Cooper MacNeil and Gunnar Jeannette-driven entry is one of 16 GT Daytona entries confirmed for the GT-only round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which includes the return of Risi Competiziione to the GT Le Mans class.

ENTRY LIST: VIR

MacNeil and Jeannette made the switch to its Porsche at Road America, due to a BoP dispute with the Mercedes, which it completed the first eight races of the season with, including a class win at Long Beach.

IMSA has not made any performance-related adjustments to the GTD field for VIR, with only the GTLM class Corvette C7.R getting a larger air restrictor.

The Riley Motorsports-run team has been on a race-by-race commitment with its GTD car of choice.

The GTLM class, meanwhile, is back to full strength next weekend, with the return of Risi’s No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTE of Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander, who are expected to complete the remainder of the season.

Other changes in the entry list since the last round include the return of Patrick Long to the No. 28 Alegra Motorsports Porsche, alongside Daniel Morad.

Jesse Krohn remains in the Road America class-winning No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 alongside Jens Klingmann, and 3GT Racing’s revised driver pairings look set to continue into VIR as well, with Robert Alon once again listed in the No. 14 Lexus RC  GT3 with Sage Karam.

A total of 25 cars are set for the second and final GT showdown of the season, with track activity set to kick off on Fri. Aug. 25.
