Lamborghni ST VIR Weekend Notebook

***A total of 19 Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo entries are set for this weekend’s pair of races at Virginia International Raceway, following the late confirmation of two Prestige Performance entries.

***Katherine Legge will drive the No. 57 Prestige Lamborghini, with Dion von Moltke getting another late call-up to pilot the team’s No. 11 car. Both drivers got their first laps of the 3.27-mile circuit in Lamborghinis in Friday’s second practice session.

***Brandon Gdovic has been another late addition for the weekend, joining Ashley Freiberg in the No. 30 DAC Motorsports Lamborghini. As a result, all four of the full-season Pro class entries now feature two-driver lineups, following the addition of Andy Lally to the No. 16 Change Racing entry alongside Richard Antinucci.

***Both Change and DAC have added drivers due to Super Trofeo rules, which permits slightly faster pit stops with a driver pairing. “We found ourselves to be giving up too much time and track position with the series-mandated pit lane differential of 3 seconds between cars with a single driver and cars with a driver pairing,” Change team principal Robby Benton said.

***Trent Hindman topped the time charts in Friday’s pair of practice sessions, with the No. 1 Prestige Lamborghini reeling off a 1:43.996 in the opening session. Edoardo Piscopo led the way in Pro-Am, with Brian Theines quickest in Am and Ryan Hardwick pacing LB Cup. Click Here for the combined practice sessions.

***Hindman is now set to pull triple-duty this weekend, subbing for Ben Keating in the No. 33 Riley Team AMG Mercedes-AMG GT3 following the Texan’s decision to head home to brace for the impact for Hurricane Harvey.

***Pro class championship leader Riccardo Agostini made his Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia debut last weekend at Fuji Speedway. The Italian driver recorded an 8th place overall finish in Race 2 in a guest entry run by Emperor Racing. 

***The 2018 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America schedule is due to be released within the next 30 days, according to Chris Ward, Senior Manager, Motorsport for Automobili Lamborghini America. Ward indicated the season will again consist of five weekends in North America, with the sixth round again in Europe, at the site of the World Final, which will be announced at this year’s event at Imola in November.

***Lamborghini, meanwhile, is set to make a series of major Super Trofeo-related announcements on Sept. 20. in Italy.
