Following a breakout performance in last month’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, Kuno Wittmer will complete the remainder of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season with TRG-AMR.

Team owner Kevin Buckler confirmed to Sportscar365 that the reigning GT Le Mans class champion will replace James Davison at the wheel of the No. 007 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, alongside full-season driver Christina Nielsen.

Wittmer made his debut with TRG-AMR at Watkins Glen, filling in for the Australian, who was on World Challenge duty at Road America.

According to Buckler, Wittmer’s role will go beyond normal co-driver duty, as the Montreal native will take over the role as the team’s lead development driver.

“Kuno will serve in a variety of roles with the team including coaching, data, driver development and is looking forward to a solid finish to the season in the No. 007 car,” Buckler told Sportscar365.

“James Davison has filled a great role with the team since first coming on board in 2013 but with his increased schedule and focus on other opportunities and roles, the very tight competition in the TUDOR Championship GTD class, and our increased sponsor commitments, we needed to make sure that all focus was on achieving our team, driver, sponsor, and manufacturer goals for the balance of 2015 season and beyond.”
