Darren Turner will step in to replace Jonny Adam in the Beechdean AMR Aston Martin V8 Vantage in next weekend’s European Le Mans Series season-opener at Silverstone.

This leaves Turner to join Andrew Howard and Alex Macdowall in the car, racing in the GTE class.

Adam has commitments at Brands Hatch that weekend, where the British GT Championship also begins its season, and has decided to focus his efforts there.

However, Adam is still listed to take part in the FIA World Endurance Championship race at Silverstone.

“I am really looking forward to joining the Beechdean AMR team and driving with Andrew, and Alex in the first round of ELMS,” said Turner, who has over ten years of experience in Aston Martins.

“It is great to be back driving with Andrew, after many years. The championship looks strong and it will be a hard fought race at Silverstone.”

Team owner Howard, meanwhile, will still pull double-duty between the ELMS and British GT events.

“I am going to miss my fellow divorcee [in reference to Adam], but it is great to be back racing with Darren,” added Howard. “I raced with him in 2010 and look forward to learning from his vast experience in the GTE car.”
