United Autosports has joined forces with Walkinshaw Racing and Andretti Autosport to form a partnership under the name of Walkinshaw Andretti United ahead of the 2018 season.

While the partnership will focus primarily on Walkinshaw’s Virgin Australia Supercars program, all three outfits will share its expertise among each of their motorsport efforts.

United Autosports focuses on LMP2 and LMP3 programs while Melbourne-based Walkinshaw Racing is one of the most successful Supercars teams to date.

Andretti Autosport, meanwhile, has experience in several disciplines including the IndyCar Series, FIA Formula E Championship and Global Rallycross Championship.

It is expected that the Walkinshaw Andretti United partnership will mainly affect Walkinshaw’s Supercars program and that United Autosports’ and Andretti’s efforts will remain under their current names.

Both Andretti and United have reportedly purchased shares of the Walkinshaw Supercars team.

“I’m delighted United Autosports have joined forces with Walkinshaw Racing and Andretti Autosport,” commented United Autosports team owner Zak Brown.

“It is bringing together three iconic names in motorsport across three continents – Europe, Australia and America, where we can share our experience and resources to make each team stronger.”
