Cetilar Villorba Corse will continue its European Le Mans Series program next year with its Dallara P217 Gibson, while also hoping to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the team announced on Thursday.

The Italian outfit will return for the full ELMS season with an unchanged LMP2 entry but has yet to reveal its driver lineup.

Andrea Belicchi, Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto drove the car this season.

Villorba Corse has also expressed the possibility of running a second prototype although this is yet to be confirmed.

More details of the team’s program are expcted in the coming weeks when it takes part in the Bologna Motor Show.

“After a very positive 2017 season, we are asked to [repeat] great results,” said team principal Raimondo Amadio.

“Our task will be even more difficult because, apart from Le Mans, that is always a very challenging event, the 2018 ELMS will be even more demanding.

“It is true that last season we learnt a lot, but in 2018 the general level will be higher, also for the effect of the new WEC, which became a two-year series.

“We are working hard on some evolutions regarding different aspects: the team itself and the car. This is why we believe we can still improve our performances”.
