André Lotterer posted the fastest time in the opening Free Practice for Sunday’s FIA WEC Six Hours of Nürburgring.

The No. 7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro topped the timing screens in changing conditions, with the track drying as the session progressed.

Second was the No. 18 Porsche 919 Hybrid of Neel Jani, the Swiss driver only a mere 0.076 seconds behind the leading Audi, with the other cars of the German manufacturers claiming the third and fourth quickest times.

G-Drive Racing led the LMP2 class with a 1-2, as Gustavo Yacaman went fastest in the Ligier No. 28, followed by the Strakka Racing Gibson 015S Nissan.

GTE-Pro saw a clear pecking order, with both AF Corse Ferrari in front of the two Manthey Porsches and the three Aston Martin Vantages.

Several cars struggled on the damp track and made off-track excursions, with a red flag half an hour from the end.

The Team SARD-Morand Morgan was the only car not to post a time, with the team facing a court order that has resulted in the car being seized by local authorities.

RESULTS: Free Practice 1
