With evolving technologies contributing to different fuel strategies, the FIA will implement a new safety measure for LMP1 cars next year competing in the World Endurance Championship. (En Français)

Revealed in the release of the 2015 technical regulations, all LMP1 cars must be equipped with flashing tail lights that would be activated in the event of a significant deceleration.

The flashing “stop” lights would be activated if loss of acceleration if greater than 0.4g within 0.2 seconds.

The change comes in the wake of the new-for-2014 LMP1 regulations, which regulated fuel consumption on a per lap or three lap average, resulting in some cars to slow unexpectedly on track in order to maintain its average.
