Today at Kensington Palace, in the glorious spring sunshine, His Royal Highness Prince Michael and Her Royal Highness Princess Michael of Kent were the guests of honor at the London Launch of the British round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the 6 Hours of Silverstone.

The Prince, who is President of the Royal Automobile Club was introduced to Gerard Neveu, the CEO of the FIA WEC, and six of the drivers who will compete at Silverstone on the 18-20 April, including reigning World Champion Tom Kristensen, who, along with Loic Duval and Allan McNish, won the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy one year ago.

Over fifty members of the British press gathered at The Orangery at Kensington Palace to hear Prince Michael and Gerard Neveu talk about this year’s race and also take the opportunity to speak to Tom Kristensen, Darren Turner (Aston Martin Racing), James Calado (AF Corse Ferrari), Maro Holzer (Porsche Team Manthey), Johnny Mowlem and Ben Collins (RAM Racing Ferrari).

The gathered journalists were also informed that tickets sales for the 6 Hours of Silverstone had already exceeded the attendance of the 2013 and were also told that after a successful test at The Prologue two weeks ago, a new App will be launched at Silverstone which will allow fans unprecedented access to each of the FIA World Endurance Championship races.

After the press conference the guests and drivers gathered outside near the assembled cars – Toyota TS030, Audi R18 e-tron quattro and Aston Martin Vantage V8 – for some photographs and for the Prince to get a closer look at the machinery that makes FIA WEC the best in the world.
