Krohn, Jonsson Set for 24H Le Mans in DH Ferrari

Tracy Krohn and Nic Jonsson are set for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the longtime driver pairing expected to be part of DH Racing’s lineup in GTE-Am for the French endurance classic.

Krohn has been listed as the nominated driver in the Chinese squad’s, AF Corse-run No. 83 Ferrari 488 GTE for the race, following the release of an updated entry list on Tuesday.

While the identity of their third driver is not yet clear, it will mark Krohn and Jonsson’s 12th consecutive Le Mans as co-drivers, and their first in the GTE-Am ranks since a last-minute entry in 2014.

The Texan businessman moved his team up to the LMP2 ranks in 2015, competing with a Ligier JS P2 Judd, prior to a switch to Nissan power, and Greaves-run operation, last year, alongside a season-long effort in the European Le Mans Series.

Krohn has not returned to the ELMS this year, and has focused his racing attention on VLN competition.

The DH entry for Le Mans came as an auto-invite for the team’s GT title in the 2016-17 Asian Le Mans Series with Michele Rugolo. Alex Riberas, Olivier Beretta and Rino Mastronardi finished 2nd in the championship, also with the Chinese-backed team.

In addition to Krohn’s confirmation, there have been a number of other updates to the Le Mans entry list, namely Jacques Nicolet now listed in the No. 33 Eurasia Motorsport Ligier JS P217 Gibson and the withdrawal of the RLR Msport Ligier, which had been the first of two reserve entries.

Only the No. 94 Mentos-Proton Racing Porsche, with Egidio Perfetti, remains on the reserve list.

Also of note, Robert Kubica and Ricky Taylor are still listed as nominated drivers for ByKolles Racing and Larbre Competition, respectively, with both not expected to drive for those respective teams.

The ex-Formula One ace has since bailed from the lone LMP1 Privateer squad, while Taylor has been confirmed in Keating Motorsports‘ Riley Mk. 30 Gibson entry, alongside Ben Keating and Jeroen Bleekemolen.
