The Oreca 07 has completed an initial shakedown Wednesday at Paul Ricard, marking the first laps for the French constructor’s new LMP2 contender, which is slated to debut in January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Nicolas Lapierre handled driving duties of the new prototype, which will now undergo an extensive on-track testing and development phase in the build up to next year.

The car features all-new bodywork and other significant updates compared to the Oreca 05. Existing customers of the closed-top Oreca will be able to purchase an upgrade kit to make their cars compliant with the new-for-2017 LMP2 regulations.

JDC/Miller Motorsports has been the first confirmed customer for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, while DragonSpeed has already announced plans to campaign two cars in the European Le Mans Series next year.
