Porsche Completes Final Pre-Le Mans Endurance Test

Porsche has completed its final endurance test prior to next month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, with its 919 Hybrid, in Le Mans configuration, racking up more than 5,000 miles in total at Motorland Aragon, including a 36-hour simulation test.

All six of the German manufacturer’s drivers, plus newly nominated reserve driver Marc Lieb took part in the multi-day test at the Spanish circuit, which saw its LMP1 contender complete 4,156 miles in a 36-hour run, with no major problems reported.

For comparison, last year’s Le Mans-winning trio Lieb, Romain Dumas and Neel Jani completed 3,251 miles in their Porsche. 

According to team principal Andreas Seidl, all of the final test points were ticked off during the what was deemed to be another successful test.

“It was an excellent team effort, thanks to everybody,” Seidl said. “We’re not back home for the final prep for the Le Mans test.”

While Porsche turns its focus to the Le Mans Test Day on June 4, LMP1 rival Toyota still has one additional test scheduled before heading to France, with the Japanese manufacturer set to complete a shakedown of its Le Mans-spec cars at Spa later this month.
