Porsche Quickest Again in FP3

No. 1 Porsche 919 Hybrid tops Free Practice 3 in Bahrain…

Porsche has topped the time charts again, but this time the No. 1 Porsche 919 Hybrid of Timo Bernhard that was quickest in Free Practice 3 for Saturday’s FIA WEC season-ending Six Hours of Bahrain.

Bernhard turned a best lap of 1:40.318, edging out the No. 8 Audi R18 by 0.488 seconds.

It wasn’t clear sailing for Audi, however, as Oliver Jarvis stopped on track in Turn 1 in the closing minutes of the 60-minute session, bringing out a yellow.

The No. 5 Toyota TS050 Hybrid was third quickest, 0.534 seconds behind, with the No. 7 Audi R18 and championship-leading No. 2 Porsche completing the top-five overall and in LMP1.

G-Drive Racing continued to lead the way in LMP2, while AF Corse jumped to the top of the time sheers in GTE-Pro, three-tenths ahead of the No. 97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE, after a dominant Thursday from the British manufacturer.

The No. 83 AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia GT, meanwhile, led GTE-Am.

Aside from the No. 8 Audi stopping on track, a yellow was flown for the No. 44 Manor Oreca 05 Nissan, which also crawled to a halt in the hands of Matt Rao.

Qualifying gets underway at 5 p.m. local time.
