Webber Showcases Porsche 919 Hybrid on Streets of London

Mark Webber drove his Porsche 919 Hybrid around the streets of London and Westminster on Tuesday morning, as part of a Porsche event showcasing its hybrid technology.

The 2015 FIA WEC LMP1 championship-winning car was accompanied by a road-going Panamera 4 E-Hybrid at 6 a.m. Tuesday for a tour of the British capital.

The tour went from Park Lane to the London County Hall Hotel, next to the London Eye, via famous landmarks including Hyde Park Corner, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and the Houses of Parliament.

“It was an incredible experience, and the first time we’ve ever had the 919 race car on the streets,” said Webber. “We stopped a lot of traffic but they were pretty excited to see the car as well.

“It was tricky. Visibility’s really difficult in that car so I couldn’t see a lot of the curbs.

“I was really excited to bring the car into London today, so it was also a highlight for myself. It went really smooth, weather was great, so it ticked a big box.”
