Leading Chinese film and TV production company, NINE Entertainment, has been announced as an official series partner of the Audi R8 LMS Cup for 2018.

NINE Entertainment’s CEO Alex Yan became the first Asian Audi R8 LMS GT4 customer when he received one of the race cars, from the first batch of 12 produced worldwide, at an Audi Sport customer racing event in Neuburg, Germany today.

The car will be entered into the 2018 Audi R8 LMS Cup by team Hard Memory, which becomes the Cup’s first GT4 team.

The team takes its name from a Chinese TV show produced by NINE Entertainment, with the car to be piloted in the Cup in 2018 by a Chinese star from the company’s roster.

“We are excited to welcome NINE Entertainment as an official series partner of the Audi R8 LMS Cup and would like to congratulate Alex Yan for becoming the first person in Asia to own an Audi R8 LMS GT4,” said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia.

“We believe our new partnership will bring the series’ unique brand of motorsport to an even wider and more diverse audience..”

The 2018 Audi R8 LMS Cup gets underway in March at the Adelaide Street Circuit where it makes its Australian debut, followed by races at Germany’s famous Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit and China’s Ningbo and Shanghai race tracks before closing the season at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit.
