Australian team Hobson Motorsport has confirmed the purchase of two Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 cars and their entry into the 2017 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

Former Dunlop Supercars series competitor and Hobson Motorsport owner Brett Hobson has been the driving force behind the deal, with both cars set to make their 2017 Australian debut at the February 3-5 event.

“These cars have an incredible pedigree, yet have been a rare sight on the Aussie circuit in recent decades with the Australian people only getting a taste of them during the Bathurst 12 Hour event,” said Hobson.

The cars will be run and prepared by Wall Racing in Australia, who will return to the Mountain with an expanded four car team next year.

The expansion will see Wall Racing running the pair of Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 entries in Class A and continue with the same pair of Class B Porches run in this year’s event, where the team finished as runners-up in the class.

“We are extremely happy to announce that we will be back at the Bathurst 12 Hour with an expanded program with four cars (two class A and two class B),” said David Wall, Wall Racing Team Owner.

“The opportunity to run the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 cars in Australia is very exciting for the team. We can’t wait to be involved and work with a global brand such as Nissan. To be able to step up to four cars and work with a Nissan is an exciting step forward for the growth of our team.”

Wall, who is this year racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship, said he was proud his team would be returning to outright contention in next year’s around-the-clock event.

“Not since 2011 have we been in the outright class for the 12 Hour, finishing fourth. It is going to be great to be back not only in the outright class but also to back it up in Class B once again.”

“We have a busy schedule over the next couple of months as we start planning for the event and finalizing our driver line ups.

“The Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 cars have had success at the Bathurst 12 Hour over the past two years and we look to continue that success in 2017.”

Hobson Motorsport has purchased the two Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 cars from U.S.-based Always Evolving squad.

The cars are set to arrive in Australia in December and most recently, they have featured as part of a Nissan-backed effort at the Pirelli World Challenge – one that includes Aussie driver James Davison.

Driver line-ups for the four cars are yet to be finalized.
