Kenny Habul and his SunEnergy1 Racing team will compete in the International GT Open this season, with the U.S.-based Australian committing to the full championship.

Habul will share a Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Thomas Jaeger throughout the seven-event schedule which gets underway at Circuit Paul Ricard on April 27-28.

While the identity of the team that will run the car hasn’t been announced, Sportscar365 understands it is a team that hasn’t before run any of Habul’s entries.

Several different operations were involved in the SunEnergy1 programs last year, with Habul competing in a variety of series including Intercontinental GT Challenge and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

He shared a car run by Scott Taylor Motorsport with Jaeger and Dominik Baumann in February’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour and looked set to defend his Bronze drivers title in IGTC but was not present in last weekend’s California 8 Hours.

AKKA ASP, HTP Motorsport, Black Falcon and Riley Motorsports were all involved in the SunEnergy1 operation at different points last year.

Jaeger, meanwhile, already has extensive experience with Habul, having driven with him in the WeatherTech Championship enduros at Daytona, Sebring and Watkins Glen last year, as well as at the Total 24 Hours of Spa.
