Bentley confirmed Thursday its  lineup of factory drivers that will spearhead the manufacturer’s return to motorsports, beginning with next month’s Gulf 12 Hours.

Former American Le Mans Series champion Guy Smith, who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Bentley in 2003, will join fellow Brit Andy Meyrick and Irishman Steven Kane in the V8-powered beast for the pair of six-hour enduros at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

All three drivers have already played a key role in the development of the car, which will compete in the Blancpain Endurance Series next year run under the Team M-Sport Bentley banner.

“After completing development and endurance testing on a variety of race tracks around Europe since we unveiled the car at Goodwood in July, we’re confident that the Continental GT3 is prepared for its first test race,” said Bentley’s director of motorsport Brian Gush.

“While the development work never stops, we feel ready to take on the competition for the first time in Abu Dhabi. I’m delighted with our driver selection, and in Guy, Steven and Andy we have world-class talent. All at Team M-Sport Bentley are thrilled to be racing next month.”

More than 30 cars are expected for the third running of the Gulf 12 Hours, scheduled for Dec. 11-13.
