Jorge Lorenzo will be one of the star attractions in next month’s Gulf 12 Hours, as two-time Moto GP World Champion is set to drive a Ferrari 458 Italia in the end-of-year enduro at Yas Marina Circuit.

The 27-year-old Spanish motorcycle star will join Australian GT driver Liam Talbot at the wheel of a Kessel Racing Ferrari 458 Italia GT3, alongside two other yet-to-be-announced co-drivers.

The entry will carry the backing of Lorenzo’s Moto GP sponsor, Monster Energy, for the Dec. 13 race in Abu Dhabi.

“It’s a real privilege to race again with Kessel Racing and partner with Lorenzo, as it’s his first time racing in the 458, I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve,” Talbolt said.

“Kessel Racing run an excellent program and the 458 GT3 is an incredible race car. It has the speed and the aero to be aggressive when you need to, but you can still hold a great rhythm to pace out these longer races.”

While having enjoyed success in the motorcycle world, Lorenzo is not a complete stranger to four wheels, having contested several GT races in recent years.

He follows fellow two-wheel star Valentino Rossi, who took part in several Blancpain Endurance Series races, coincidentally also with the Swiss Kessel Racing squad.
