Mercedes Locks in Factory Lineups for N24

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport will field a quartet of fully factory-supported GT3 cars in this year’s Nürburgring 24.

HTP Motorsport and two-time winner Black Falcon will lead the manufacturer’s quest for a third outright victory at the ‘Green Hell’ in May.

DTM drivers Edoardo Mortara and Daniel Juncadella have been placed in one of the two HTP-entered Mercedes-AMG GT3s alongside Dominik Baumann and IMSA prototype driver Renger van der Zande.

The team’s second car will be driven by Indy Dontje, Christian Hohenadel, Maximilian Goetz and van der Zande, who is set to pull double duty across the two Mann-Filter liveried cars.

For Black Falcon, 2016 winners Adam Christodoulou, Manuel Metzger and Maro Engel will be joined by Ford factory GT driver Dirk Mueller.

The 42-year-old is set for his third consecutive N24 drive in a Mercedes, but has swapped places with Yelmer Buurman, who moves into the team’s sister car featuring Luca Stolz, Thomas Jaeger and Jan Seyffarth.

Additionally HTP, Black Falcon and Landgraf Motorsport are once again set to run single customer entries, bringing the total number of Mercedes GT3s at the Nürburgring to seven.

The number is one fewer than 2017, following the disbandment of the Haribo Racing team in February.

Former Ferrari F1 junior Raffaele Marciello, who was signed as a Mercedes factory driver this year, features in the HTP customer car along with Jeroen Bleekemolen, Patrick Assenheimer and Clemens Schmid.

Landgraf will have 12 Hours of Sebring pole winner Tristan Vautier in its crew, which also includes Edward Sandstrom, Sebastian Asch and Kenneth Heyer.

Black Falcon’s third entry, meanwhile, consists of Abdulaziz Al Faisal, Hubert Haupt, Erik Johansson and Gabriele Piana.

Three Mercedes-AMG GT4s, meanwhile, are also planned, although exact details have yet to be released. 

It will mark the car’s N24 debut for the marque’s newest racing product.
