Entry List Changes for Blancpain GT Finale at Barcelona

Thirty five will are set to take part in this weekend’s Blancpain GT Series season finale at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona, with the overall and Sprint Cup titles yet to be decided.

The impact of the clash with the final round of the ADAC GT Masters at Hockenheim has remained limited, with Sprint Cup points’ leader Christopher Mies being the main loss.

As previously reported by Sportscar365, Robin Frijns will join Enzo Ide in the No. 33 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi R8 LMS in an effort to help him secure the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup drivers’ title.

Meanwhile, Nico Mueller will take over Frijns’ seat in the No. 4 WRT Audi alongside Dries Vanthoor.

Grasser Racing Team has only entered two of the usual three Lamborghini Huracán GT3s for the Spanish round, with theAustrian team sacrificing the entry of Stefan Rosina and Jeroen Bleekemolen to give Nürburgring winner Rolf Ineichen a shot at winning the Gentlemen Trophy in GT Masters.

Attempto Racing will also split its resources between both tracks, resulting in a single Huracán GT3 being entered for Daniel Zampieri and Max van Splunteren.

Marco Bonanomi will take over driving duties from Chistopher Haase alongside Mike Parisy in the No. 26 Sainteloc Racing Audi, as Haase will also compete at Hockenheim.

Andrew Watson replaces Côme Ledogar in the No. 59 Garage 59 McLaren 650S GT3 due to a calendar clash with International GT Open where Ledogar also races in a Garage 59 McLaren alongside Alexander West.

Watson will team up with season regular Martin Plowman and is coming off a heavy crash at Nürburgring two weeks ago.

Following a single entry at the Hungaroring, Rinaldi Racing is back at full strength with three Ferraris.

Rinat Salikhov will make his Sprint Cup debut alongside Norbert Siedler in a Ferrari 488 GT3, while Nürburgring standout performer Alexander Matschull is entered in the second 458 Italia.

Absent at the Hungaroring, the No. 90 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 of Raffaele Giammaria and Ezequiel Perez Companc is back to finish off the season, keeping the total number of entries consistent at 35.

Thanks to their fourth place in the Endurance race at the Nürburgring, AMG-Team HTP Motorsport pairing Dominik Baumann and Maxi Buhk have re-taken the lead in the overall drivers’ standings, while the Austrian-German duo faces a 17-point deficit to Enzo Ide in the Sprint Cup standings.

Track action gets underway on Saturday, with both the Qualifying Race and Main Race set for Sunday.
