Emil Frey Racing will give the Lexus RC F GT3 its Blancpain GT Series debut in the Sprint Cup finale at Nürburgring later this month following a strong season in the International GT Open so far.

The Swiss team will enter one Lexus to be driven by Albert Costa and Stephane Ortelli in the final Sprint Cup round of the season on Sept. 15-17.

This comes after a successful run in the GT Open series this season, which has seen the team score three wins in the opening ten rounds.

“We have proven the capability of the Lexus RC F GT3 and feel now is the right time to take the program one step further,” commented technical coordinator Hannes Gautschi.

“We have no high hopes or are not aiming at any point results, we will use this race meeting purely as a testing ground to see where we stand with our car in such a competitive field and surrounding.

“It will also be a totally new experience for us to run on Pirelli tires since we have only ever tested with Michelin and Dunlop, so we will get some very important knowledge on how the car handles on different tires.”
