V8 Racing will be the first European customer of the new Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R, the Dutch team announced on Thursday.

The European GT4 and International GT Open regular will enter a pair of Camaro GT4.Rs in the GT4 European Series next season as the first team outside of the U.S. to run the car.

Stevenson Motorsports and Blackdog Speed Shop ran the car in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge and Pirelli World Challenge, respectively, this year, with both teams claiming race wins in the car’s first season.

GM has said it is looking to sell the SRO GT4-homologated car in Europe and V8 Racing is the first customer to announce its program with the Pratt & Miller-built car, which it will take delivery of before the end of the year.

“We have a long and successful relationship with Pratt & Miller and we couldn’t be happier that we are the first to bring the new car to fight with the likes of Audi, Mercedes, BMW and Porsche on one of the world’s toughest GT4 podiums,” said team owner Rick Abresch.

“In addition to running the first two Camaro’s in Europe, V8 Racing is also looking into ensuring customer support and parts services for new Camaro GT4.R customers in the future.”

In addition to racing the cars in the GT4 European Series, V8 Racing is considering entering them further afield as well, with particular focus on the British GT Championship and 24H Series.

“It would be good to take this incredible new car and race it in many different series but that’s part of future,” team manager Francesco Pastorelli added.

“As for now we are in a great place with two new cars on the way and the pieces for a competitive comeback in the European GT4 Series falling into place.”
